RUDE TUITION STAFF TELLS MAN LOOKING FOR MALAY LANGUAGE TUTOR TO LEARN FROM MALAY FRIENDS INSTEAD

I am a working adult looking for a Malay tutor for work/personal interest online. I have gotten a few tuition agencies (including privatetuition.sg) to quote me as I was unsure about the market rates as most of their price list given was for students. I was contacted by this private tuition agency and he understood what I was looking for.

KIASU PARENTS PAY NEARLY $6,000 EVERY MONTH FOR TUITION

Her son is a straight A student in a top boys' school here yet this mother spends $5,800 a month on his tuition. Her son, who is in Secondary 3, attends classes for English and mathematics at a premier tuition centre in Thomson once a week - two hours per session. He also takes a 21/2 hour weekly Chinese class in a popular language school. And he gets one-on-one tuition - each for about two hours - for physics, chemistry and biology with a private tutor. All these classes are on top of the regular supplementary lessons that his school gives.

FOREIGN TALENT SORE THAT DAUGHTER DID NOT GET INTO SCHOOL'S GIFTED PROGRAMME

This year, my younger daughter took the GEP test. This time round, I found that the parents of many Primary 3 pupils had paid exorbitant prices for GEP-specific tuition programmes. I was certain that since my elder daughter and her friends had got in without any special preparation, my younger daughter would as well. Unfortunately, she did not get through the second round. It was painful to see her crying her heart out after learning the result. Since then, I have been struggling with the question of whether I should have just signed her up for GEP training.

[YOUR LETTERS] MOE TRAINEE TEACHER INSULTS STUDENTS ON SOCIAL MEDIA

I am a local Singaporean student and I would want to complain about my teacher. Although teaching may seem like a noble profession involving numerous personal sacrifices, some teachers apparently have questionable attitudes which appear quite befuddling. Broadrick Secondary School trainee teacher Mr. Haniel Soh is one such example.

MOE FORCED ME TO SEND MY DAUGHTER FOR 16 HRS OF TUITION EVERY WEEK

My daughter is in Primary 6 this year. She already has 4 tutors for English, Math, Science and Chinese. She has 2 lessons with them each week, which takes up a lot of her time, and a lot of our family time together. Every weekday evening, she has to sit in for tuition classes after dinner, so by the time she finishes tuition, it’s already 9pm. She still has to do her homework for the next day, so by the time we get her to bed, it’s around 10 plus or 11 o’clock. And to think she has to be in school by 7.30am! I’m writing in because I’m not happy that our education system has forced our children into this kind of tuition culture.
