PLASTIC RICE SERVED IN BAH KUT TEH SHOP IN MALAYSIA

I actually experienced the taste of plastic rice just now at a shop we used to frequent. I told the owner about the rice and he said he was not aware of this. It is tasteless and cannot be broken up. Tried to break it up with my fingers but it stays in shape. Of course we left the rice alone. Owner didn't charge us for the rice and promised he will look into it.

HEALTH MINISTER & HPB'S WAR ON WHITE RICE SHOW SHOCKINGLY POOR UNDERSTANDING OF NUTRITION

In its “war against diabetes” the government – led by the Health Minister and the CEO of the Health Promotion Board – is promoting the ridiculous message that eating rice is more harmful than taking sugary soft drinks. This shows a total lack of understanding about basic nutrition. It also goes against the rest of the medical community worldwide, which, in recent years, has produced report after report about the many harmful effects of sugar. The Health Minister and the CEO of HPB are unfit to be in their positions.

GIANT SUPERVISOR THINKS I'M TRYING TO CHEAT HIM WHEN I WANTED REFUND FOR SPOILT RICE

Bought a packet of Kangaroo calrose rice at the Giant outlet opposite of Redhill MRT. When I picked up the top pack, there was a whiff of rotten smell. The counter lady told me there has been a rotten smell since the morning and suspected that could be dead rats from outside the store. When I went for my cheng teng at the hawker centre, I thought my fingers smelt weird, like faeces. I checked the back of the rice packet and saw brown stains and on closer inspection, the rice in the packet looks mouldy. The supervisor checked the rice and asked me how many days since I bought the rice to which I produced the receipt and the counter lady also told him that I bought it 10 mins ago. He then told me that he will certainly refund me and made comments that how could the rice turn out this way and why did I even bring it for payment in the first place. He then asked me to follow him to rice aisle and brought up a few packets to show me that their rice are in okay condition to which I replied that it could be the only one and all I want is a refund.

300 KG OF FUKUSHIMA RICE TO START SELLING IN S'PORE

Japan will be restarting exports of rice grown in Fukushima for the first time since foreign sales were halted due to fears of contamination by the Fukushima nuclear disaster. The National Federation of Agricultural Cooperative Associations (Zen-Noh), a major wholesaler of Japanese agricultural products, said it will send 300kg of the grain to Singapore. Its provenance will be marked and it will not be mixed with other produce, an official said. The rice was grown some 60km to 80km west of the crippled Fukushima nuclear plant, he said.
