EXPOSED: UBER KNOWINGLY BOUGHT DEFECTIVE CARS, RENTED THEM OUT WITHOUT REPAIRS

Uber knowingly bought more than 1000 defective Honda Vezels and rented it to drivers without necessary repairs despite Honda's safety recall in 2016. It was only after several Vezel fires that they promised to take action and work with the LTA to solve the issue.

ELECTROLUX EXTEND RECALL TO 2 MORE GAS HOBS - OPTIONS FOR AFFECTED CUSTOMERS

Electrolux has extended the options available to customers affected by the 6 January 2017 product recall. These will now include either a cheque in exchange (SGD700 or SGD800 depending on product model) or a product replacement*, following customers’ feedback. A goodwill gesture of SGD100 voucher will also be given to customers as a token of our appreciation for their patience through this product recall.

AVA RECALLS POPULAR 纯萃喝 TAIWAN MILK TEA FOR UNPERMITTED FOOD ADDITIVE

AVA has worked with the importer of “Just Drink- Milk Tea” (纯萃喝) to recall the product as it contains the ingredient L-theanine. L-theanine is currently not on the list of permitted food additive under the Food Regulations of Singapore. Do not be alarmed, L-theanine is an organic compound that is found in certain plants. There is no food safety risk associated with the recalled products.

FOREIGN OBJECT FOUND IN BEN & JERRY ICE CREAM, RECALL ONGOING, ADVISED NOT TO CONSUME

We received, on 5 July, a public feedback about a plastic film in a tub of Ben & Jerry’s Strawberry Cheesecake Ice Cream. To ensure food safety, we are working with the importer to investigate. While investigations are ongoing, the importer is voluntarily recalling the affected batch as a precautionary measure. Consumers who have purchased the implicated product should not consume it.

IKEA: RECALL OF LATTJO BAT CAPE

IKEA is recalling the LATTJO bat cape after receiving reports about 3 children who had received marks and scratches on the neck while using the capes.

It appears the cape got stuck and was not easily detachable from the neck of the children.

While no injuries requiring medical attention have been reported globally, to prevent the the risk of strangulation or injuries to the neck, IKEA has decided to take the precautionary measure of recalling the product.

LTA: 75,000 S'PORE CARS HIT BY DANGEROUS TAKATA AIRBAG RECALL

The Land Transport Authority revealed that more than 75,000 vehicles in Singapore are affected by a worldwide recall caused by a potentially fatal flaw in the Takata airbag system. Japanese company Takata, which supplies a fifth of the world's airbags calls for a recall after finding that an inflator module can propel shrapnel when the airbag is deployed.
