The facebook group is a gathering of Christian hardliners in Singapore who demand for anyone or anything that does not condemn homosexuality to be punished. The leader of the group, Ms Carrie Yu, is a Christian fundamentalist who has campaigned against many things such as Adam Lambert's performance and the Penguin books which featured two male penguins raising a baby penguin. She goes by the name Carrie Shalom on facebook. During GE2015, she arranged for SMS and whatsapp messages to be sent as widely as possible to get the WP East Coast team defeated. She warned that Christians should not vote for Associate Professor Daniel Goh as he has been 'sympathetic' to the LGBT movement.
I saw this message on We Are Against Pinkdot facebook group and I thought of sharing it with you. This mad Christian lady thinks the WP is promoting homosexual agenda and threatens to vote against opposition because they don't agree with their "christian values". I think she and her group must be living in a cave!
In this post on the "We Are Against Pink Dot in Singapore" fb group, hardcore Christian and anti-gay crusader Carrie Yu claimed that Lady Gaga, the famous superstar, is a destructive influence on Singapore society, especially on impressionable kids.
So I've been thinking about this whole Adam Lambert fiasco. The petitions currently up right now are (1) to remove / ban (whichever you prefer) Adam Lambert from performing in the 2016 New Year Celebrations lineup, citing a variety of disagreeable values and ideas his performances will propagate, and (2) to allow him to continue performing, citing discrimination. As of right now it is about 16000 vs 16700 (so pretty much equal).
Singapore remains a largely conservative society in which pre-marital sex and having a child out of wedlock are still frowned upon. That was the finding of a survey on social morality by the Institute of Policy Studies (IPS), released on Tuesday. The questions were asked as part of a wider survey of more than 4,000 Singaporeans on race, language and religion.
