SUSPICIOUS SUBSTANCE FOUND AT WOODLEIGH MRT, SPF SAYS DON'T ANYHOW SPECULATE

Woodleigh MRT station is closed until further notice after a report of a "suspicious substance" being found at the station premises. According to the Singapore Police Force (SPF), police are "managing" the security incident and warned members of the public not to speculate on the incident.

Turkey's Ataturk International Airport was struck by a coordinated gun and bomb attack killing at least 36 people and injured more than 90 passengers. Three attackers opened fire near an entrance to the airport terminal and detonated their suicide vests after police returned fire at them.

A SINGAPOREAN'S SCARY EXPERIENCE DURING PARIS TERROR ATTACKS

It's 2.30am on a Friday night as I start writing this. Madness has again descended on this beautiful city of light. I still hear sirens. Police. Ambulances. They come and go. We make and laugh at jokes. Macabre jokes. Morbid jokes. Tasteless jokes. Dumb jokes. Anything to relieve the tension. Everyone is on his or her phone. Texting loved ones. Texting friends and family and co-workers. Checking Facebook. Checking Twitter. Trying to find out what's going on. I check my email, including the marketing spam. I wonder if it's crass to do some online shopping to relieve the stress.

After more than 120 people were killed in gun shootings and bomb attacks in Paris, France declared a national state of emergency and closed its borders. The most severe attack occured at the Bataclan concert hall where at least a 100 civilians were killed.

A TERRORIST ATTACK THAT ALMOST HAPPENED IN SINGAPORE

In 2002 the John C. Stennis battle group was steaming towards the Middle East. We stopped in Changi Naval Base Singapore for a few days of port call. My duty day was the last day. That morning when I reported to watch I pulled bus rider for 8 hours. My watch was to ensure that everybody riding the bus from downtown Singapore had military ID and the proper sticker on their ID Card. I could only get off the bus at the Naval base and had to stay on for the entire ride into town. I did however get to wear civilian clothes (khaki pants with a polo shirt tucked in wearing a belt, lucky!!!)
