POLICE STOPS TOC EDITOR FROM GOING M'SIA, QUESTION HIM FOR 'ILLEGAL ASSEMBLY'

The Online Citizen's Terry Xu was stopped from travelling to Malaysia as the Police demanded to take his statement on his 'unlawful' assembly for a candlelight vigil. The vigil was held a few months ago in memory of Prabagaran Srivijayan, who was subjected to the death penalty.

IF GRASSROOTS ADVISOR CAN REPLACE AN MP, DOES THIS MEAN THEY HAVE EQUAL POWER?

Appointing a Grassroots Advisor in Marsiling instead of calling for a by-election raises very unsettling questions about how the Government recognises the legitimacy and authority of elected MPs. Does this mean that Government agencies will now accord them with as much recognition as elected MPs? Does this mean that these advisors can take on other roles that presumably only MPs can undertake?

Not so for those feudal, reactive Confucians, most of whom are staunch PAP supporters, who still think that they are living in the age of the mandarins. In their eyes, Amos Yee is not one deserving of empathy, but one deserving to have his life thrown down the mire in jail in order to be taught a lesson for trying to cross someone in authority. Never mind that he needs a caring and listening ear. What he needs is the rod, hard and furious, the harder the better on his buttocks.
