An elderly man who sells tissues for a living around the road traffic junctions of Bugis Street and Raffles City was exposed recently for trying to scam kind hearted passersby into buying tissues for him.

His ruse? Pretending to fall down while crossing the busy intersection, which send his bag of tissues scattering all over the place. This would attract concerned passersby who would help the man pick up his tissues.

After they do this, the man would plead with the helpful good Samaritans to buy tissues from him. Not wanting to appear uncaring or unkind, many good-hearted Singaporeans bought packets of tissues from the man. Each packet is sold for close to $1.

According to eye witnesses, who have caught the man performing the same ruse several times a day, he only appears during lunch hours when human traffic is at its highest.
